Who is Alkima?
Alkima is a team with roots in the realms of independent film, reality TV, feature, short and series documentary, commercials, music videos and corporate videos.
With a can-do attitude and gung-ho mindset about making each project the best it could be, we’re proud to have worked with a diverse group and having established lasting personal and professional connections around the world.
Jay Kim | Director and Producer
Jay has a background in acting having studied the craft from the age of 12, attended the BFA in Acting program at Marymount Manhattan College and attended on a scholarship and graduated from the Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles. He’s appeared in 35+ projects as a thespian.
Upon relocating back to Seoul in 2016, he’s been more active behind the camera, having directed and produced numerous independent film, documentaries, commercials, music videos, campaigns and corporate videos. He’s worked with notable figures in the entertainment industry, major international corporations and leaders of various professions. Jay's selected works can be seen here.
Daniel Smukalla | Cinematographer and Producer
Thanks to a large VHS collection growing up, Daniel fell in love with films from a young age,. He started shooting Star Wars and Matrix fan films with his friends high school friends in small town Wisconsin, and then studied cinematography at Columbia College Chicago.
After film school, he moved to Seoul to see and experience a new part of the world. What was suppose to be a short sojourn became over a decade and counting. While in Korea, he’s filmed feature length documentaries, indie films, music videos, and has worked with numerous international companies and broadcasters. His works can be seen here.

Yes, we can provide local fixer services. For locations, we’ve worked with location management companies and have conducted independent location scouting too.

Yes, depending on your needs and budget, we can work with casting agencies or conduct independent casting.

For gear, we can arrange whatever is required or requested for the shoot as long as they are available in Korea. In the past, anything specific that was not available in the country were either brought by the visiting crew or available alternatives were used. For crew, any departments are needed for the shoot, we can arrange.

Yes, our team has worked with numerous global brands for TVCs, social media ads, and corporate videos.
